Students in 8th grade tried out their fishbowl skills in Social Studies class.
Students focused learning around these standards: 4.3- Students will understand the role of culture on developing and maintaining societies 4.5-Students will understand the effect of economic wants and needs on individual and group decisions.
Students debated their opinion around this topic: President Andrew Jackson did not have the presidential or legal authority to move Native Americans off their land. He did it anyway.
To prepare for the fishbowl students research and provided two economic and two cultural reasons to support their opinion.
It was so amazing to watch the students debate with one another, support their opinion with historical evidence, and piggy back off others' ideas. Way to go 8th grade!!! Keep it up!
